The brief was to alter and extend a brick bungalow and transform it into a modern and functional family home. The proposed extensions were to double the footprint of the original two bedroom house by adding a further two Bedrooms, Ensuite and an open plan Living space. Once completed, the extensions were to compliment, not compete with, or dominate the existing house and was to read as one. To create an interesting contrast in colour and texture, and completely transform the dwelling, the existing red bricks have been painted a dark charcoal and the new living room extension has been clad in a rich coloured cedar weatherboard.
