Builder: Mike Greer Homes Ltd
The proposed house is a modern flat roofed house on a well established street in an upmarket Christchurch suburb. The external appearance has a very solid, almost industrial feel with concrete coloured plaster and exposed structural steel. To contrast the concrete appearance, black stained random sized horizontal cedar battens were used. These were used in areas such as the garage door to make it almost disappear and installed over windows to create interest and shadow in the internal spaces. The industrial finished theme follows through inside with polished concrete floors, stainless steel benchtops and concrete finished vanities. The Kitchen is at the heart of the house with Dining on one side and Living on the other. The brief was to have all Living spaces viewable and accessible from the Kitchen. The Dining room faces East opening out to a private courtyard with the Living and Lounge opening to the West creating fantastic indoor / outdoor flow.
